it feels good

To be back in Bangalore.. banging at my keyboard.. and adhering to the joyous routine that is work.

Have zillions of emails I need to catch up.

Some deadlines I have to work towards…

Diwali was nice with family. Missed Rocky. It was good sitting at home and watching the lights and wincing at the sound of extremely loud crackers.

Conducting business in Assam is a pain. It seems that tomorrow never comes when it comes to getting money.

One, is laziness which produces lots of excuses and the other is pure defiance.. Sigh..

What else is new. ?  No the bomb blasts in Guahati are not.. :(

Seeing a very modern Guahati was new.. :)

Adapting

Inspite of the hectic activity of doing things that needs to be done, I have accepted the fact that I can be on vacation when I am taking a breather.

Its nice to sit and chatter with my aunts.

The heat does not allow the being to do one fourth of what gets done back home. Sigh.

Sometimes it’s as if we are moving in slow motion. I feel like soaking in a tub of ice during the day. Mornings and evenings are cool and there is a nice breeze blowing. I especially like standing beneath the “Shefali” / “Champa” tree and breathing in the beautiful fragrance while I take a walk with Mom.

Then while I am reading a book in the evening in a moment of respite, the crickets have a go at it, and I can feel I am at peace.

Yesterday I had a sweet I used to have in Shillong. Its called “Boiled Cake”. Man it drove me back to nostalgia lane. You don’t get em sweets down South.

Mum used to get it for me always from her office canteen while coming back home.

Tomorrow or day after, am going to Golaghat, my sasural. There has been a wedding recently there so gotta go and do the Bahu thingy.

Mom-in-law is not very well either. Sigh. Hope she gets better soon. I am looking forward to sitting doing the ladies thing with my MIL. Love to talk to her. She has so many stories to tell. :)

Onwards Home

Preparing to go to Assam for two weeks on work.. yeah.. vacation would be a side benefit this time.

I am already missing office.. eeeps..

Actually I am ashamed to say that Guahati in particular does not hold that much of an appeal to me. It only has some really dear people who I want in my life. Hence I tolerate that place.

The day I am reaching there, the higher powers have called an Assam Bandh..
Assam is famous for its bandhs.  I think they call it for the heck of it sometimes to get extra holidays. There is no doubt that this place has the highest number of holidays if you count the bandhs.

Now am going with my parents who are not that young anymore. I just hope I reach home safely. Grrrrr.

After I am done with my folks settling down here with the new house and all, we would like to drive down to Shillong and some of the North East States.

Would have done it long back but family priorities came up. I would like to think that it just got postponed. :)

You will hear more from me from Assam. :)

On a different note :

The buzz word around is economic climate. Well there is depression in that bay but am hoping that it will pass soon.

Reminds me of the Harshad Mehta days. Brrrrrr

On a funny note :

While browsing through Big Boss 2

Diana Hayden with her funny anglo accent trying to teach Ashutosh English in Big Boss. You should say this or that.

Ashutosh says ” It will rain HAVELY, aah ha.. its future indefinite. ”

Diana says ” not its he vvv, say he vvv”

Ashutosh tries it. Diana then says.. “its not spelled Havily its spelled HEVILY

DUH !!

Now who is teaching whom. She does not even know the spelling of that word.

Ashutosh at least knows its future indefinite.. So what if he does not speak with a twang !!

Diana would not know that much of Hindi, I am sure..

All that shoo shaa about english sometimes.. makes me go BLAHHHH …

Hahahahah !!!
