Its been a week and the experience of being in Assam is slowly fading away. Life seems to have picked me up just like a passing wave and has put me back in the moving tracks of the daily humdrum of activities.
And me being used to that, I do not mind it though it does me some good reflecting back on the past one month.
Loss and death have somehow interestingly made me seem more grounded and real. It sometimes is an interesting way of closing certain doors of illusions and well opening new doors of reality which seems somewhat expected and well somewhat ignored in the past not deliberately but just by being so involved with one’s own race..
Death has its way of tearing away certain illusions that we carry inside ourselves and if I am not careful, I can be sucked into that world of faux happiness and security … just by living day to day as expected… instead living day to day as I expect my not so ideal world to be is more real and helps in juggling my priorities better … sans the screen of climbing up and up the ladder.. without putting my foot somewhere.. where I can leave the body in peace.. when its time..
Anyway, coming to mundane matters, summer is scorching here.. I like the thunderstorms though.. it does wreak havoc if one is not careful but its a relief from the dry heat.
We went to the Mantri Square Mall here in Bangalore, which was a huge space. Lots of shops. Too many shops. I liked the Oval Bar. Just to rest your tired feet, with a glass of beer or a chilled glass of some fresh citric mocktail.. well its ok I guess. The entry to the mall was fine but the exit confused me.. he he !! Well I claim to be geographically challenged.
Watched City of Gold. I found it slowly and surely mindblowing. I think we need more cinemas like this too..
Cast : Sachin Khedekar, Seema Biswas, Satish Kaushik, Kashmira Shah, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Shashank Shende, Veena Jamkar, Karan Patel, Siddharth Jadav
Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar
Its an adult movie.. and so it should be… going by the topic and the format it played on
Amazing rolling of the story.. it starts slowly and then it builds up gradually and even though sometimes you know what is coming up, you are still at the edge of the seat. It is definitely an echo of history and where we are living today… Though this story builds in Mumbai but I am sure many will respond to the basic exploitation imagery and its not comfortable..
It did kind of leave a distaste in the mouth and some scenes I could not watch specially how desperation and poverty turns the youth into literal wolves who would do anything for money and food.
I liked the tight scripting and honest story telling and it did actually left me feeling that whoever brought this story had lived it as is… and its not pretty..
Something for you to watch if you like serious cinema.. The actors have done a wonderful job in portraying stark reality.
