Point of Reflection | Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is enlightenment.

it feels good

To be back in Bangalore.. banging at my keyboard.. and adhering to the joyous routine that is work.

Have zillions of emails I need to catch up.

Some deadlines I have to work towards…

Diwali was nice with family. Missed Rocky. It was good sitting at home and watching the lights and wincing at the sound of extremely loud crackers.

Conducting business in Assam is a pain. It seems that tomorrow never comes when it comes to getting money.

One, is laziness which produces lots of excuses and the other is pure defiance.. Sigh..

What else is new. ?  No the bomb blasts in Guahati are not.. :(

Seeing a very modern Guahati was new.. :)

Time to go home.

Well, the time is drawing near when I will be back in Bangalore.

Its raining in Guahati and the weather has become pleasant.

Making Doi Ilish at home. He he.

Loved the greens which is available in Assam.

Food cheers me up always… no matter what.

Had a bad day some days back.. but heck.. after writing and deleting the post, I think its ok.. if I am in the right and I do the right thing.. it does not matter who is doing what.

I can only control myself and my thoughts.. rest is history and herstory.. :)

So hoping you have a great Diwali.

Adapting

Inspite of the hectic activity of doing things that needs to be done, I have accepted the fact that I can be on vacation when I am taking a breather.

Its nice to sit and chatter with my aunts.

The heat does not allow the being to do one fourth of what gets done back home. Sigh.

Sometimes it’s as if we are moving in slow motion. I feel like soaking in a tub of ice during the day. Mornings and evenings are cool and there is a nice breeze blowing. I especially like standing beneath the “Shefali” / “Champa” tree and breathing in the beautiful fragrance while I take a walk with Mom.

Then while I am reading a book in the evening in a moment of respite, the crickets have a go at it, and I can feel I am at peace.

Yesterday I had a sweet I used to have in Shillong. Its called “Boiled Cake”. Man it drove me back to nostalgia lane. You don’t get em sweets down South.

Mum used to get it for me always from her office canteen while coming back home.

Tomorrow or day after, am going to Golaghat, my sasural. There has been a wedding recently there so gotta go and do the Bahu thingy.

Mom-in-law is not very well either. Sigh. Hope she gets better soon. I am looking forward to sitting doing the ladies thing with my MIL. Love to talk to her. She has so many stories to tell. :)

Hello from Assam

Well having set foot in our house after 10 months, everything is squeaking and rusting at home. Sigh.

Though I cannot say much about the weather, I should say that this is one place where you will not have dearth of helpers for money.

Someone to fix the gas, someone to come and sell fish at our door. Someone will come and sell duck eggs. Hahhaah !!

Someone to come and sell pickles. Someone to fix the TV. Just one shout away.

Well there is also someone to go and shop groceries for you for some amount of money.

For most of the services, you will have someone to come and do it for you.

Makes me feel pampered and well I think people have it real cool here on one hand.

Having said that, I think I am too Bangalored to get used to this.

But I have to say that the major work that needs to be done gets easier and smoother if the little things are taken care of.

Its good for parents but then somehow I think its not that good to get used to this. Makes me spoilt. LOL.

And my friends in the US and UK think that I am spoilt having a cook back home at Bangalore.. What would they say if they had this kind of human service with kindness and willingness as it is in Assam. Hahahah !!!

Key to surviving in extreme humidity : Just sit still and drink lots of water. The first is impossible. The second is doable. Buhahahah !!

Highlights : Tasty HIlsa Fish available when you need… Total Bliss.
