Point of Reflection

Expounding Pallavi Baruah, a mountain woman, friend,  lover, wife, daughter, loved niece, daughter-inlaw,  mystic, dreamer, singer, tarot reader, traveler, photographer, foodie, and someone who loves all good things in life.

Pallavi, is an  Indian name. Its origin comes from the ancient Indian language Sanskrit. The word itself consists of 3 words:
- pa is derived from padam which means word or phrase;
- lla comes from layam which means poetry or rhythm;
- vi is from vinyasam which means imagination

Pallavi is the thematic line of a song.

furthermore, Pallavi also means the coming of new leaves and everything that is new and fresh.

1. I walk with the spirit of the tiger, soar like a hawk, bask in solitude of the wolf, cultivating the gentleness and humbleness of the deer, keeping within me memories of  ancients like the whale, play like the dolphin, fall like the cat and rise like the phoenix.
2. I feel one with the mountains and feel humbled to a dot by the sea. I don’t think I will ever have sea legs but give me a mountain to climb and I am ready for that anyday.
3. Love to explore my country that is India.  No matter where I go, its not enough.  This place can never see the end of exploration.
4. Writing is my way of expressing myself. I love to write anything and everything. I like to give a unbiased opinion of whatever I see. But sometimes emotions do get in the way and content turns to a rant.. which I am okay with.
5. My experiences with humanity and with life ( however tiny or fleeting that is) has made me a better woman and I would not regret a thing if I were to turn back. It all had a purpose. The sky and beyond is my limit and I exist because of that.
6. People are a puzzle I always like to solve. Including me. I love people, love the way human emotions takes turns and how it triggers different emotions in different circumstances.
7. Love to take leadership in any initiatives at the same time like to be a part of a team working for a common goal. As  long as there is teamwork, it all feels good to give that extra bit of myself.
8. Love my gadgets but something with too many options and buttons just throws me off. I just draw a blank on my mind then.  Maybe its the influence of the hippy generation that I come from.. LOL..
9. Nothing beats simplicity in everything. Sometimes I think we are the ones who make life and situations more complicated that it already is. I know I do.
10. My mom taught me to be as independent as ever. I did discover that its good to be dependent sometimes.  Not everything in life is to be borne by you and only you. Its okay to ask for HELP.
11. Have limited tolerance for non performers and people who live parasitically on someone else’s health and wealth.
12. Food is an important part of my happiness.. Hahaha !! I love food.
    • When its winter, I love my tea and cakes or cookies.
    • When its raining, I love to have samosas and tea
    • Lunch time is a time when I like to experiment with different cuisines.
    • I like to have elegant dinner in stylish restaurants.
    • I love to taste different flavors in my food.
    • Ice Cream makes me feel like a child
    • I am not a fan of chaats but I like them once in a while
    • On the road, I love to have local food from the huts by the highway or the beach.
    • Love cooking and entertaining friends at home.
    • Fish is my favorite.
    • Cannot take too much of Pasta.
    • Love going to different restaurants and having different types of food around the world.
    • Like Chinese, Italian, Ethiopian, Indian and Thai and all things well flavored.
    • I abhor raw fish and Sushi is NOT my favorite. EWWW.
13. Communication is very important to me. The right communication at the right time.  Learnt the hard way from my many  faux pas.
14. Anger mists everything in me. I liken myself to a dormant volcano which when active does see what it destroys.
15. I revel in being imperfect.  Its one of the most normal thing about me.
16. I love being in a relationship. I love the ups and downs which is brought forth. Goes to teach both the partners loads of new lessons and the opportunity to grow together,
17. Cannot forgive physical or mental abuse. It has no right to exist in society. Yet it does.
18. The most difficult moment in my life was to leave Shillong, my shelter and my home.
19. There is no one as close as your own family who will take you for what you are and love you no matter what. Most relatives  by birth and by law  just are bystanders who revel in your downfall or laugh at any missteps.
20. Live for yourself. Make yourself happy and then you can make all people around you happy. I am what I am.
21. Anything is possible. You just have to believe in it. Your fear as well as your desire takes shape if you think about it too strongly.
22. My guru and my light source is my salvation. She is the one person, to whom I surrender all of myself.
23. Backpacking around the world is something I would like to do with my husband.
24. Unconditional love is something I have learnt from my pets and nature. I have realized that its not enough just to give. You have to have the heart to receive as well.  Then we have love flowing in and out.
25. I love my space. Its not meant to be shared with anyone but my guides.
26. Sometimes, I give too much of myself where its not needed.  And that leads to loads of misunderstandings and expectations and taken for granted scenarios in return  but heck…. no regrets..
27. Sometimes, I love being in a crowd.. just one of them.. but sometimes I am most lonely when I am in a crowd.
28. Alone is necessary but loneliness is something I like to do something about.

30. Out of sight is sometimes out of mind for me unless there are connections. Sigh.
31. Shopping is my big sin. Love shopping for clothes and knick knacks. My desk at office looks like an Archie’s shop according to my colleagues..
32. Like watching sunrises and sunsets from anywhere. Best part of the day is the evening.
33. I am at my happiest when I am riding with my Rocks, sharing a camfire with him and good friends over music and some vodka, or generally lying down on my stomach looking up at the blue sky reading a book or snoozing in the shade, with Rocks.
34. Reading is something which I cannot live without. I cannot have enough of words to take in.  I like to start and end my day with reading something.
35. I hate confrontations but if I am forced to a battle of wits, I will pull out all stops and make sure I win the battle no matter what.
36. My battles are my own. I like to fight them myself and come out a winner scars notwithstanding.
37. I don’t have tolerance for competition and sarcasm. Generally ignore them. I like the word “ignore”. It has proven bliss to me to cut off difficult situations which I have to live with.
38. What I cannot ignore, I face it. It makes life easier.  If its worth it, resolve it, if its not, close it and move on.. that’s my motto.  There is more to me than getting stuck with sticky people and situations.
39. If I cannot get along with someone, I prefer to be nowhere around them. Non communicado is better than spewing fire. I make sure that I am non existent and non relevant to them. It works well with me.. Live and let live.
40. I like networking and I have found some really genuine and nice people on the net. Some I have never met or will never meet but the connection will always be there. And some I have met and connected well. Halleujah to networking.
41. I take my profession seriously but am not overtly ambitious.
42. I would like to open my own center for learning and also write books on subjects close to my heart, lessons from travels, women, reality which we can make for ourselves, etc.
43. I love to sing but I have stage frights. LOL. I used to open my lenses before I could sing in front of an audience so that I did not have to see how many people I am singing for. Helped me a lot.  We all have our ways of dealing with stuff..
44. For me, learning feeds me and there is no full stop to learn about so many things around us.
45. I believe in marriage and to me in the new age, marriages are more fragile than ever. It takes a lot to make marriages and relationships work.  I would say that its an important stage in our life which we have to experience just like hostel life.  That does not go to say that people who prefer to remain single are missing out. They have their own experiences to learn from which is well balanced in the long run.
46. I love dancing. I would like to take some lessons. To tell you the truth, I have two left feet unlike Rocks who dances divinely. Sigh.
47. I love my birdies. I have two cockatiels who bring lot of joy and sunshine in me. They are two smart parrots that I could ever find but then I am biased.
48. I know that the only thing I can control is me and the rest is dependent upto the environment around me. So when things go haywire, I let it be and just move with the flow.  It helps.
49. If there are good days, there are the bad ones. I like to take them as lesson points which helps me gain strength to face the tougher challenges to come.
50. I am a clairaudient and a clairsentient. I am clairvoyant through my dreams. Ok .. its scary enough for me.. but I am getting the hang of accepting it.
51. I believe in my angel and spirit guides and have recently discovered my animal spirit guides. It gives me immense pleasure and humility to have them guide me in my work in this planet.
52. Tarot reading is my way of guiding souls who come to me when they are at crossroads… It is not a means to tell the future.. You make your own future.. Tarot only shows you the signs..
53. I never take life for granted. Have been in pretty impossible situations many a times and each has proven me right about this fact.
54. I am a bundle of contradictions but I know I can find my pieces well in the midst off all the confusion that is me.
55. Love the world of movies. I cannot do without the reel world. It gives me a chance to just go somewhere else.

    • Bollywood flicks also have their charm. The running around trees and simplistic storylines which does not need me to think sometimes relaxes me.
    • I love the offbeat genre of movies as well.. which makes me think.
    • You name it, I love them all..
56. I also love the radio. I like waking up to my favorite songs in the morning and sleeping with my favorite songs by my ear.
57. I love to dress differently for different occasions.
58. I find sarees one of the most elegant dress forms for women. I also like long black skirts with long slits. 
59. I can be very absent minded at times… like to think that its because I am aging but unfortunately its a birth defect .
60. I forgive but I do not forget. I have an elephant’s memory when it comes to these things which has the tendency to surface at the most unexpected times and resulted in me cutting my nose off to save my face… many a times
61. Letting go of my baggage and my ego is very difficult but I have reaped many rewards by doing just that. Now its become a choice. I have tried to let go of most of my angry thoughts but some are still there. It will take time but my aim is to let go of every negative thought that I have and just dilute it with neutral stuff.. or focus on something constructive to myself..
62. Love craft work and I think if I had the time, I would spin out interesting bits which are still in my mind.. god knows when they will see the light. I used to do quite a bit in school.
63. I like to think I am old fashioned with a modern twist.
64. I love to have a cup of tea with friends and have a good talk with my friends.  Well you can replace the coffee with wine as well. Good food and good conversation turns me on.
65. I believe there is magic everywhere around us. Its for us to discover and find it.
66. Children bring tremendous joy to me. I still need to get over poorly tolerating badly behaved, button pushing, parents insulting, hip hop and hype kids of the new generation. But heck thats another phase of my life I have to adapt to.
67. I do not like to have any expectations from anyone. A difficult bite to chew but then it works with not getting hurt and having your heart chipped away gradually till you are an empty shell.  Whatever I get, I am happy to take it one day or an hour at a time.
68. I am glad I have known the people I have known till date. People who have been great friends and people who have  callously ended up trampling on a big chunk of me. Well what do you know ? Maybe I allowed it to happen.. so well its all good and all fine.. I bear the scars proudly.  I would not change a thing again.
69. Restrictions and Limitations is not a weakness for me but a choice.
70. Keeping myself content is my first priority which helps me in making others happy.
71. Whats love got to do with anything ? Love is an overused emotion, I feel sometimes. Its blind and its unfair.  But who cares ? We all have to experience that..
72. Lust is more real. You can at least put a finger to it and know where you are with that.. hahahah !!
73. I personally love romance.. romance in the look, romance in the nature, romance with words, romance with my husband and in general romance with my life. Romance is candelit dinners,  walking by a beautiful lake in silence, in warm hugs over cups of hot tea on a winter night, sitting by the fire, watching a movie together, laughing together, a smile a look, a blink.. all the finer things bring out the romance in me.
74. I am very bad with money.. I dont know why it was invented. It was good to have the bartering system of the past which would enable us to exchange stuff.. That way we could do away with lot of clutter.
75. Love to walk the cobbled paths of old cities.
76. Silence and thinking nothing is the ultimate way to be with my God.
77. Am a rebel at heart.
78. Prefer to be safe than sorry.
79. Patience is not my middle name and never will be but life has this ironic twist forcing down huge doses of it at every step so lets say patience is a good friend of mine whom I love to hate…
80. Biking is a building passion in me.  The road is open and I have a lot of miles to conquer..
81. Creativity is a means of expressing myself, be it through words or a song, art or a poem.
82. Humor is an essential ingredient to my living self. The day I dont have that, you will know that I have lost myself.
83. Losing myself to circumstances is something I fear.
84. Fear is something I walk with. I know that I have to walk with it and not behind it. Only then I can conquer it.
85. Past lives lessons have taught me the whys of many unexplained personal characteristics and traits in me.
86. My mind like my house is an organized chaos. I have loads running in and out.. and well I know exactly where I am going.
87. Ask and you shall get is one of my favorite phrases in life.
88. Home truths are something one has to understand and accept before making a home. Buhahah a!!
89. The wisest woman I know is my grandmother who took to time to explain the dos and donts in such a scientific manner that the stories still ring a bell when it needs to.
90. Have many pet peeves but also have more pet loves..
91. What is life without some mistakes and some trip overs ? But heck I surely dont like myself making the same mistake again. It feels dumb and stupid which I like to think I am not.
92. I love my moods.. sometimes I revel in the different moods that I get into.
93. Impulse is something which I love about me. What I did going by my gut instinct has never failed me. So let me say what was impulse in youth is GUT instinct as I move into my prime.
94. Social issues are something that I like to work with on the side.  I believe in doing what I can and how I can and not counting how big I can.  And this service begins at home such as charity and all the moral stuff that we learn in school.. all of it begins at home.
95. Taking risks and overcoming challenges give me high.
96. Growing old gracefully is a beautiful thought in me.
97. There are many things I myself do not know about me but I cannot wait to explore and find out which I am sure I will do so till the day I die.
98. I believe the future and my destiny is what I make of it. And no one can tell my future since I have not created it as yet.
99. I love everything about and around me and if I were to die now,  I would die happy this moment. No regrets !!
