Authors galore..

I accidentally discovered these books while coming out of the library and picked them up on a hunch..

And the moment I picked these three books, I could not stop till I finished the story.

Stephenie Meyer is one hell of a writer.. After reading two books and going on search for the third and the fourth book I realise that this comes under junior fiction… hahah… well what the heck.. After Harry Potter, this is one of the most engaging books I found…in that category..

Twilight,  New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn

Twilight, the start of a 4 book saga which introduces a human and vampire and thus begins a love hate and the acceptance of a relationship and all that comes with it. Its a fantasy story in the bracket of magic and the vampire world but the story telling is so captivating that I could not put the book down and  I was thirsty for more content by the time I finished this story. The details and the incidents took me to a world of its own and well I must say I was very enchanted. Reading New Moon only continued the story taking a very different turn with new characters.

I am working at getting Eclipse and already have Breaking Dawn which I will read after Eclipse..

Ahhh the joy of discovering a story which makes me wonder what will happen next.. I feel like a kid… :)

And this book is being made into a movie… and yesssss I am waiting for it.. You can click here to have a looksy.

In my possession is also The host which I will read after I finish breaking dawn.. yehaaaa.. I have a reading purpose…

The Last Concubine.

Loved the weave of this story. Again, this is an exceptional word work of a trying time.. the book shows how painful as well as liberating change can be and what one is willing to accept to live. The details of the period story enabled me to visualize and live the story as I lapped it up page after page. Another good book and I think I have become a fan of stories from Japan. Did not let me put it down till I reached the completion.

I have totally fallen in love with the short poems in the book… :)

‘From long ago

Though I had heard to meet
Could only mean to part
Yet I gave myself to you
Forgetful of the coming dawn.’

1861. Growing up deep in the mountains of rural Japan, Sachi has always felt different, her pale skin and fine features setting her apart from her friends and family.

Then, when she is just eleven, an imperial princess passes through her village and sweeps her off to the women’s palace in the great city of Edo. Bristling with intrigue and erotic rivalries, the palace is home to three thousand women and only one man – the young shogun. Sachi is chosen as his concubine.

But Japan is changing. Black Ships have come from the West, bringing foreigners eager to add it to their colonial empires. As civil war erupts, Sachi flees for her life.

Rescued by a rebel warrior, she finds unknown feelings stirring within her. But this is a world in which private passions have no place and there is not even a word for ‘love’. Before she dare dream of a life with him, Sachi must unravel the mystery of her own origins – a mystery that encompasses a wrong so terrible that it threatens to destroy her.

Set in one of the most tumultuous eras in Japanese history, Sachi’s story is a potent mix of adventure and high romance. More than a love story, it also chronicles Japan’s extraordinary change from a medieval to a modern country in a matter of years. From the timeless beauty of the Women’s Palace in Edo to bloody battles fought outside its walls, The Last Concubine is an epic evocation of a country in revolution, and of a young woman’s quest to find out who she really is.  From the Author’s blog.

Right now, I am back to researching one card deck which has taken my fancy…  toodlessssss…. :)

I’ve heard of Meyers – and I want to read her too :D The other, uh, young people’s fiction I really got into for a bit was Lemony Snicket’s series of unfortunate adventures. I think I got through 7 out of 13. Good fun!
