Point of Reflection | Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is enlightenment.

A week that was

I think considering the tooth problems I had, if I look back, I had a pretty decent week.

Took the longest sick leave in 2 years that was for 4 days and stayed put at home. I think it was a good break. Thinking on that point, sometimes, its good to be sick… our bodies and minds are forced to take a break even if we are actually thinking of running somewhere.. fast and without much thought.

So all in all the higher powers have actually been very kind to me.

Being a part of the biker brotherhood helps… seriously.. its like a different network of family in itself.

I went to a biker dentist who did a great job with my tooth. And its almost painless and really smooth and soft hands.. His wife worked on my tooth and she was a magician.. hahah…

Blast from the past..

Ironically, I come from a family of doctors and dentists and well I fear them the most.. LOL..

I am the black sheep in my generation who went of the Software Industry rather than fulfill my cousins’ dream of having a hospital named Baruah Hospital..

Sheesh !! I remember when I was just getting out my tenth class. I had this urge and the dream to become an architect but then because my cousins had been forced as well to learn the ropes by my respected uncles and were on their way to become some unprouncable medical titles.. ( to me)  I was beset by frequent visits by each of them.. to badger me to become a medical professional.

And I was the only girl in a family of big strapping macho boys who thought the world ran according to their whims and fancies.. No offense but cousin brothers are sometimes a pain.. Sigh..

Add to that some overbearing uncles who thought that a girl need not have any say anyway.. :)

I remember how everyone thought I would carry the torch unwillingly and then willingly to become one more addition to the family..

But they did not know me.. hahaha .. !!! Even today when I think of it, I am likely to have an evil smile on my face.

I was pushed to go for the exams and all that.

Whilst everyone was serious about getting a seat somewhere prestigious and all that blah, I was plotting how to sabotage my papers.

I was more than lucky to get multiple choice paper which had some very easy and doable questions, i remember, but all the time, I played “Inky Pinky Ponky, Father had a donkey” and ticked the answers which had a Donkey.  And took my time with it and finally, it was done.. and I had this serene expression in my face which made everyone ask me about the questions and answers.

I came home with a smile and just sat tight and quiet while my cousins waited with bated breath for the results. Phone calls were made. Dad was excited. I felt bad for Dad but heck he knew where my interests lay and it was not fair to deviate because the family wanted it.. sigh..

And well to make a long story short I won the battle and ended up with watching hospitals from afar.. and in TV series.

Suffice it to say that the younger generation after moi, did follow my footsteps to not join the medical field and do something different on their own.. More power to choice !!!

Back to present

Watched Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic and its a take on Nanny Mcphee. But with a Bollywood twist. Now the Bollywood movies are mostly takes from Hollywood. Why cant they come up with an original storyline. I wish there were more Aamirs in the line..  Anyways, Waiting in line for Jaane Tu and Dark Night and Hancock.

Have a good week.. its a beautiful day.. full of promises..
